Ushara is a sonic performance artist and soprano working across expanded opera, composition, pipe organ and experimental theatre. 
She holds an MA from the Royal College of Art.

A publication of  100 instructions scores promoting healing, rooted in spiritual techniques from Tara Ward’s “The Healing Handbook”, Hindu rituals and heavily inspired by the fluxus movement. Organised into chapters, these scores provide personal guides for survivors encouraging unique interpretations, acknowledging the extensive healing through 100 scores. The ritualistic process allows participants to actively engage in their healing. The meditative and whimsical instructions create a space for emotional release whilst encouraging creativity.

Bound as a book, accompanied with visual works, the acts draw inspiration from minimalist performance artists like Joan Jonas. The film depicts my personal journey using the scores., using minimal materials and natural surroundings to enhance healing connections with the earth, echoed by Ana Mendieta: “I feel the need to join with this earth to return to her womb”. Instruction 95 culminates in a large canvas work embodying movement, cleansed in the ocean, symbolising journeys of healing and release.

‘We do not grow absolutely, chronically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.’ Anais Niin.
